Leeds-based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist: George Bloomfield has announced the release of his debut EP ‘Why Didn’t You?’.
Having already hypnotised us with his two previous releases ‘Twelfth’ and ‘Push Back the Sun’, George has four new tracks on the way. The first song to come out shares its title with the name of the album: ‘Why Didn’t You?’. The track is extremely well produced, with a multitude of mesmerising instruments and incredibly melodic vocals.
George’s music has the rare ability to capture a feeling, the tracks on this album will incapsulate the moment. With a gradual tempo that rises and falls the tracks will leave all who listen; relaxed and introspective.
When lockdown hit, George had the opportunity to dedicate his full time to his music. He recorded the entire EP in his spare bedroom at home, surrounded by an orchestra of instruments – including a drum kit and double bass! Needless to say, George is one of those musicians who are passionate about the value of authenticity – playing and recording instruments gives his music that raw and real sound, in which we can completely lose ourselves.
‘As the pandemic continually hindered my opportunity to get into a recording studio, I decided to embrace a more DIY approach to creating the record at home. I write in a similar way to an electronic producer by continually adding loops and textures but using only live instruments, and the freedom of working from home gave me the possibility to create as many layers as I wanted with no restrictions.’ – George Bloomfield
Drawing inspiration from a large pot of genres and artists such as Skinshape, KOKOROKO, Khurangbin, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, George’s music is unique, showing us his undeniable musical talent – can’t wait to hear more!
‘Why Didn’t You?’ by George Bloomfield is self-released on May 7th 2021.
