J Carlyle new single ‘Intruder Alert‘ is a unification of many different genres – including reggae – and takes a creative view on the feeling of being pestered over social media.
“Absolute banger!” – BBC Introducing
Multi-faceted rapper and poet, J Carlyle is set to release several new tracks this year, as well as a book of poetry and spoken word performances – as if ‘Intruder Alert’ wasn’t enough! With praise already given by BBC Radio and GRM Daily, it looks like 2021 is becoming J Carlyle’s year.
The track is an upbeat, uplifting mix of music genres, with a melodic rap to match. We’re sure you’ll want to dance to this one!
J Carlyle has been writing songs since the age of 15; he has always had an interest in a multitude of different music styles including Reggae, Old School Dub, R&B and Dancehall. The release and consequent success of his debut EP ‘Calculating the Ifs’ in 2020 has given J the inspiration to continue creating, with introspective lyrics on mental health issues.
”I consider myself an advocate for mental health because it’s a topic which is extremely close to me. Over the last 10 years I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum from working in one of the largest mental health institutions in East Midlands, looking after people from all walks of life whose mental health has deemed them a risk to society or/and their own well-being. I myself have suffered with mental health issues also. This journey prompted me to work with Channel 4 and local council to create a music programme for the youth.” – J Carlyle
